Build on many years of expertise we try to combine a strong background in theory with hands-on roasting and evaluation experience. Our roasting courses are mostly intended for starting and intermediate coffee professionals, but also curious coffee enthousiasts are welcome to subscribe for the roasting foundation course.
The course will be given to you by the OR Coffee roasters: authorized Specialty Coffee Trainer (AST) and Head Coffee Roaster at OR Coffee Miguel Maes and Q-Grader and Founder of OR Coffee Tom Janssen. All the roasting courses will be SCA certified.
This 1 day course will be an all round introduction to coffee roasting. From green coffee buying to production cupping, it will enable you to create your first roast profiles.
A chance to enroll in to the SCA Roasting Certification System and to really discover the life at the roastery.
This 3 day course will give you a more elaborate understanding of the roasting process.
We will discuss how different roast profiles lead to different sensory expressions and how to avoid roast defects. An introduction to the basic physical changes of a coffee bean during the roasting process.
To participate in this course, you should have finished the SCA Roasting Foundation Course successfully or have a minmum of 2 years of experience in roasting.
This course will give you a deeper understanding of heat and heat transfer. We will explore the physical, chemical and sensorial aspects of green coffee and during the roasting cycle.
It will also give you the skills needed as a manager to plan and execute quality control, create a product range to meet different customer segment preferences, calculate production costs, plan and execute lean production.
