Since a few years we are buying coffee from Matias and his father Johel Monge. They have a great reputation in Costa Rica winning multiple times the Cup of excellence with their first plantation. They grow mainly Geisha and Catuai on high altitude and produce exceptional coffees. We visit their farm every other year and have become good friends over the years.

Last year Tom was judging the Cup of excellence competition in Costa Rica and knew they were participating with their coffee. Of course the competition is a blind competition, so judges have no idea which samples they are cupping. It was a nice surprise for Tom to discover that Matias and his father Johel won the first place again in 2023.
